This nipple can be ok for slightly older babies and/or babies with excellent oral function. Ensure your baby's lips are relaxed around the base of the nipple and have not slipped down to the narrow portion. You can use Pigeon nipples with this bottle to optimize mouth posture. Choose "SS" for newborns.

Good choice! Although it may sound backwards, the narrow base actually allows for a more relaxed lip position because they can easily stretch around the base. Having more nipple material in the mouth supports deeper latching, and the shape of this nipple can encourage tongue cupping (important for strength). The 4 ounce bottles come with a level 1 nipple, which is oftentimes too fast for newborns. Try preemie flow!
Good choice! This nipple shape supports oral function. However, Lansinoh's "Slow" is oftentimes too fast. Both Pigeon "SS" and "S" are slower, and they are compatible with this bottle.
